Palihouse Santa Monica

We recently stayed at Palihouse Santa Monica, and it was a fabulous experience. We were greeted by the friendly valet at the curb who helped us carry our many bags into the hotel. There's a beautiful garden entrance and as you go into the lobby you immediately feel like you've been transported to an inn in Europe. The front desk staff were just as friendly and very helpful. They welcomed us and our dog, Ruby. We got a lovely, spacious, airy room with windows that open! It had a kitchen where we could store our food (we were on a road trip) and heat up takeout food. The bathroom was large and the shower was fantastic with a rainfall shower head. Our morning walks over to the Promenade and down to the beach were relaxing and Ruby loved them too. We loved Palihouse so much, that we changed our plans to stay an extra night. I highly recommend this delightful hotel with personalized service and helpful staff who cater to and love dogs!

We had an excellent stay in a massive room on the 3rd floor. Absolutely beautiful place, quiet and with friendly staff. So much space and not a lot of folks around, very relaxing. Love the decor and style.

Beautiful grounds, charming decor. Central to restaurants, shopping, beach and pier. Stayed in 1 bd w/kitchen. Loved the vibe, very homey. Window wont close and balcony door broken, holes in screens, lightbulbs burnt out, A/C worked but smelled like dust so turned off closet smelled like mold, light switch missing, tub enamel worn off. Room service slow, food cold, missing food. Same in lobby. Croissant was good. Lukewarm coffee. Still charming. Eat out or bring your own. They never fixed window that would not shut. Great bed, bathrobe, bring slippers, loved kitchen, couch, lobby charming, bikes great. Maintenance came 9pm to kill large insect on ceiling over bed... that was service

I stayed at Palihouse in February. I am a sucker for old California Spanish style architecture, so the atmosphere and aesthetic was dreamy. My room had a full kitchen, which had everything I needed except a tea kettle. Would love for them to consider that in the future! The rooms are not tricked out tech wise, but if I have to choose, I’ll take Diptych toiletries and Frette linens any day over tech. The location is incredible and easy access to the walking path on Ocean is a bonus. Overall, loved it enough to return to Palihouse in a few weeks with my daughter and parents.

Beautiful hotel. HOWEVER, the AC doesn't work in my room. It's almost 80 degrees. The front desk brought me the world's smallest fan and said 'sorry'. Absolutely no urgency to get it fixed. Said he was working on it from behind the bar in the lounge. That's not exactly 'working on it'.
