a month agoA great little oasis of calm in the long beach area. For a coffee snob the quality was on par with Melbourne or Brisbane’s best. The pastries were good enough, but a bit too sugary. The Lunch menu had a really good choice of healthy items. The area out back is the best part, it is quiet and visited by humming birds and the has a couple of gas fire pits for the cold nights. Just a great hangout spot.

4 months agoWe went here for coffee before meeting our cousin fir Brunch at Claire's at the Long Beach Museum of Art. My sister loves her lattes, so tried the Lavender Rose Latte and loved it. My Americano was terrific as well. The outdoor patio is really great with many different sitting areas, large and small. Their pastry case had many delicious looking items from sweet to savory, with an interesting full menu. I would definitely recommend Alder & Sage.

3 months agoIf you need an excellent place to work during the week, suggest it. Oh, and the wifi is a plus. The outdoor patio is ideal and cute. The food and service were excellent. They have the option to scan your receipt and pay. Parking is right next door, so you pay per hour, or if lucky, you find street parking.

8 months agoBeautiful local Cafe/brunch spot. There were a lot of people inside when we visited on a Sunday morning for brunch, and most people were waiting for drinks from the cafe only. For a table of 2, the wait was relatively short for about 15 min. Maybe it's still soft opening but once we ordered our coffee and food, the food took quite a while to come out. We ordered the sage latte, the whiskey latte, pork belly hash, and the burger. The drinks were great, the sage flavor is fragrant but not too overpowering, while the whiskey latte has the perfect amount of sweetness. Unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to the expectation set by the drinks. The pork belly was decent, but not memorable, and the burger is cooked well done and a bit dry. Will definitely come back for drinks.
