The menu at Jack’s Wife Freda tells the story of the dishes we know and love from our childhoods in Israel and South Africa, as well as New York’s Jewish food and culture, emphasizing bright, fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. Our love for our adopted hometown is reflected in everything at Jack’s Wife Freda, from our lively atmosphere, all-day dining hours, effortless ambience and joyful sense of community.
You can still find us here in SoHo, or visit one of our locations on Carmine Street in the West Village, West 16th Street in Chelsea, and Wythe Ave in Brooklyn. 3 months agoWe had the special breakfast of the day, which wasn’t on the menu. It included red potatoes, lamb, avocado, and topped with a poached egg. The taste was excellent, we really enjoyed it. We also ordered waffles, which came with whipped cream, mixed berries, and syrup on the side, and I absolutely loved it. The coffee service and the atmosphere were both fantastic. We paid $93 for two people, which might be a bit pricey, but it’s definitely worth it for such a great place. I highly recommend it.

a month agoThis spot is packed during the day on the weekends, but you could walk in without a reservation on a weeknight evening, if you’re willing to sit inside. In the summer there is a wait for outdoor seating before 8pm. We came in for appetizers and I loved their eggplant one! We also tried their beets dip, but that one was only 7/10.

a month agoAwesome place for breakfast. The Soho location is not too crowded if you come just after opening hours. Big space inside, great atmosphere. Menu has a lot of Mediterranean inspired items. This time around I went for Jack’s Breakfast and added some avo on the side. Steak was very tasty and the meal quite filling. I was looking forward to enjoying my coffee as it was drizzling early morning but I don’t remember anything special with my latte that time.

2 months agoCame for breakfast while waiting for a store to open. At 10am on a Sunday they were packed. I was solo so I got seated quickly at the bar (which was also fairly full). Service was quick, water was refilled often and fast. The Green Shakshuka was great. The eggs were cooked to perfection. It had a very earthy taste. I wasn’t rushed, and was able to stay a while waiting for the shop I wanted to visit to open.

a month agoIt was a perfect summer brunch place with the most scrumptious food! We went here for lunch and sipped some margaritas in the patio. Along with shakshuka green & fresh Mediterranean salad to top it off. The service was fast & top notch. Every detail was perfect about the cafe.
