months agoWent in on a Saturday for brunch with friends. They were very busy and did not take reservations. We sat after our full party had arrived. It was my first time here and I felt it was just okay. They didn't have a lot of options on the menu. I ordered the bagel plate and shared it with a friend who ordered the potato cakes. The bagel was good ( hard to mess up a bagel!) but the potatoes were bland. We also stopped at the bakery attached to the restaurant. I got cookies and brownies for the family. We all had the same opinions of very dry and not good for the pastries.

months agoGreat location in the middle of a great little part of Berkeley. Old diner vibes with good food to match. It met expectations and was definitely a place that I would try again. The salmon hash was great and the biscuit. Oh the biscuit. Somehow the biscuit stayed nice and hot throughout our time there.

a month agoI was there at 7:30am on a Wednesday, so it was not crowded. I ordered the two pancakes and eggs and sausage and coffee. It was $28.61 (before tip), which included a $0.75 "kitchen service fee." The meal was totally average, the coffee was thin, and I got close to zero service. No coffee refill. They did not even clear the menus after I ordered. I got one hard wrapped thing of butter that's impossible to spread on a pancake and maybe 1/2oz of not-real maple syrup. The scrambled eggs were kind of runny and the chicken apple sausages were those small frozen kind, not the larger ones, like Aidell's, I get at other places. The waiter -- who had never stopped by the table until I waved my credit card around -- then asked "do you want more coffee." When I was completely done with my meal. If you want an average meal, really go literally anywhere else and you'll also save a bunch of money. If you want a good meal with a server who actually serves you, this is not the place.

months agoWe came here for breakfast and had a fantastic meal. We ordered the buttermilk pancakes, New York everything bagel platter, potato pancakes, banana rum soufflé pancakes, and 2 sunny side up eggs with home fries and chorizo. We really enjoyed the banana rum soufflé pancakes, and the buttermilk pancakes are the best pancakes we’ve ever had, as they’re so thick, light, and fluffy. We will definitely come back again when we’re back in Berkeley!

months agoWonderful breakfast/brunch spot! Everyone here loves what they do, and the delicious food is proof. This was my first visit, and I look forward to my next! I had the Shakshouka, and my friend had the Cornmeal Pancake w/Leeks and Poached Eggs. They were both incredibly delicious! Sit at the counter and watch the chefs create everything. It's fun to watch!
